Where it all began and where it is going...
Growing Concern started in 1981 as a service oriented business in Southern Vermont. From 1981 to 2000 we managed property, had mowing contracts, landscaped, and did specialty excavation work in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and Long Island, New York.
In the autumn of 2005 we presented a landscape proposal to the City of Calais for a new downtown park. The City and the general contractor accepted the plan. The general contractor hired Growing Concern to install the design. From that point to now we have grown so much that we are still in Calais where we purchased a small farm in May of 2007.
We offer a full range of services from design to lawn care. With the purchase of the farm in Calais we will be building greenhouses to grow annuals, herbs, and tropical plants. Our 6 acres is now in cultivation growing a wide range of trees, shrubs, perennials, and vegetables.
Growing Concern now sells landscaping material wholesale to small garden centers
and landscapers in Northern Maine as well as retail to the public. On May 2,
2009 we opened a farm stand and retail garden center.
All of our services and products are done in partnership with nature and are chemical free. |
